PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Many young opioid users demonstrate a rapid transition to injection drug use, which is associated with significant risks (e.g., overdose, HIV/HCV); yet there is virtually no research on how to prevent or halt this transition. This project developed an mHealth intervention to prevent progression to injection drug use among young opioid users. Given the widespread use of mobile apps among young adults (98% of adults between 18-29 own mobile phones and spend approximately three hours per day using mobile apps), this intervention may have significant reach for this difficult-to-engage population.
