PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This study will evaluate the effectiveness of long-acting injectable buprenorphine and sublingual buprenorphine (SLB) among incarcerated adults preparing for reentry into the community. Conducted across three correctional trial sites (Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Delaware) this research will generate critical data on treatment retention, implementation feasibility, and relative costs, providing actionable insights for correctional systems, healthcare providers, public health authorities, and policymakers.

The study seeks to address gaps in care and improve continuity of treatment, with the potential to reduce post-release overdose risk, enhance long-term recovery outcomes, and mitigate the broader societal and economic impact of opioid addiction.
