New York HIV Research Centers Consortium
Mission Statement

The NY HIV Research Centers Consortium is a collaboration of HIV research centers in the greater New York tri-state area. The overall mission of the Consortium is to develop an integrated network of research centers and to foster innovative research by synergizing diverse expertise among the participants to promote New York regional research efforts to address the HIV epidemic.

GOALS:

  • Promote inter-institutional exchange of information about our work
  • Foster inter-institutional, multidisciplinary collaborations among Consortium member
  • Promote regional research efforts in a broad range of HIV research areas, including:
    -Basic research
    -Social, behavioral and prevention research
    -Clinical research
    -Health policy research
    -Healthcare informatics and economics
  • Develop the HIV agenda for the New York region taking into consideration the needs of the region, the prevalent patient population and the expertise available in the region

OBJECTIVES:

  • Hold meetings of the Consortium center directors to oversee the advancement of the Consortium including planning of activities
  • Hold conferences providing opportunities to examine specific issues in depth
  • Identify funding sources that support and promote the research agenda of the Consortium
  • Identify and promote utilization of resources available for collaborative and efficient undertaking of research efforts
  • Encourage the development of new investigators and inter-institutional infrastructures to support the research agenda
