PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Xylazine-adulterated fentanyl has emerged as a public health threat and is contributing to severe injection-related infections and other harms. Amidst this drug supply transition, researchers have begun to document transitions to low-frequency injecting or injection cessation among people who continue to use fentanyl. This qualitative study will characterize the dynamics shaping these drug use transitions and overdose prevention with a diverse sample of people who use drugs who have transitioned to low-frequency injecting or injection cessation, as well as a focus groups with harm reduction workers.
