Multi-Level Analysis of Perinatal Toxicology Practices in New York State: An Explanatory-Sequential Mixed-Methods Study
Funded by: National Institute on Drug Abuse
Project dates: August 2026 - July 2030
Principal Investigator: Choi, Sugy
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This study will assess toxicology practices in perinatal care and its impact on healthcare access and outcomes for perinatal women who use substances. By examining these practices through multilevel factors, individual, clinical, and structural, it will identify opportunities to reduce barriers to care, improve prenatal care utilization, and mitigate adverse birth and health outcomes. Findings from this project may be used to inform clinical practice guidelines, provider training, and policies aimed at improving care delivery for women.
