Project dates: July 2024 - June 2027
Sexual and gender minorities (SGM) disproportionately experience depression, anxiety, and suicidality, leading to higher rates of substance use. These disparities are exacerbated by the intersection of marginalized identities, including race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status. The landscape of SGM health and wellbeing has been dramatically reshaped by policies, systems, and structural forces that have rapidly altered legal protections and healthcare access. To address these critical issues, an innovative study will utilize natural language processing and machine learning to deliver evidence-based problem-solving therapy to SGM adults. This project has the potential to significantly improve accessibility to remote, evidence-based mental health treatment for those who need it most.
