Funded by: National Institute on Drug Abuse
Project dates: August 2025 - July 2028
Principal Investigator: Montero, Fernando
Principal Investigator: El-Bassel N
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This study addresses disparities to accessing HIV and overdose prevention services by developing and piloting an integrated HIV/overdose education and naloxone distribution (OEND) peer navigation intervention targeting people who use and sell drugs in the neighborhood of Kensington in Philadelphia. The study will assess whether receiving peer navigation to PrEP and peer training on naloxone significantly improves PrEP uptake/adherence and naloxone carrying/competency among participating PWUSD compared to receiving standard training on locally-available services alone.
