PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This mixed-methods pilot study that aimed to assess:
- HCV seroprevalence and prevalence of HCV viremia among people who inject drugs (PWID) in Puerto Rico,
- HCV treatment awareness, barriers to treatment utilization, and willingness to access HCV care among PWID, and
- Feasibility of using dried blood spots (DBS) in community based-settings.
In addition, this study assessed medical and social service providers’ views of HCV treatment with direct-acting antiviral (DAAs) for PWID.
