Decision Making in Adopting Evidence-Based Practices and Innovations in Residential Substance Abuse Treatment
Funded by: NYU Research Challenge Fund
Project dates: June 2015 - May 2017
Principal Investigator: Manuel, Jennifer
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This study will examine system factors, organizational characteristics, and leadership and staff attributes that impact the adoption of innovations (e.g., evidence-based services, business practices, quality improvement initiatives) in residential substance abuse treatment. We will conduct qualitative interviews with residential program leaders to gain a more in-depth understanding of organizational level decision making in the context of adopting innovations. These findings will inform a subsequent cross-sectional, online survey of organizational characteristics and implementation factors, which will be distributed to program directors and clinical staff from a random sample of residential substance abuse treatment programs in New York State.
