PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project evaluated a program to enhance the use of evidence-based practices in two Brooklyn Drug Courts (the Misdemeanor Brooklyn Treatment Court and the Screening and Treatment Enhancement Part). Eligible participants were individuals who had a substance abuse and/or mental health disorder and who had been charged with a misdemeanor or felony offense eligible for jail diversion. Jail diversion provided alternatives to incarceration. Treatment components included trauma informed case management, vocational interventions, interactive journaling and consumer-centered family support. The targeted outcomes included increased retention in treatment court, reduced re-arrest rates, and outcomes specific to each intervention component.
