Addressing Multimorbidity among Veterans with Stimulant Use Disorders
Funded by: VA Health Systems Research
Project dates: April 2026 - March 2030
Principal Investigator: Han, Benjamin
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Veterans with stimulant use disorders have complex mental health and medical treatment needs, including multimorbidity, unstable housing, and an elevated risk for suicide and other mortality. The study will adapt an evidence-based contingency management intervention for the treatment of stimulant use disorders and include intensive chronic disease management to address multimorbidity among this high-risk population.

The results of this study will provide immediate value to the Veterans Health Administration by tailoring health services to Veterans with stimulant use disorders to meet patients where they engage in care while improving the efficiency of that care to maximize benefits and health outcomes.
