BIO
Carol Lee is an early-state investigator with interests focused on ways to prevent and treat substance misuse and disorders, particularly among youths, including adolescents and emerging adults from marginalized communities within the harm reduction framework. She is particularly interested in employing a multiphase optimization strategy to develop, optimize, and evaluate multicomponent interventions using a community-engaged research approach for underserved populations. Her work aims to leverage digital health technologies to develop adaptive behavioral health interventions that move the intervention field beyond static, one-size-fits-all approaches. She also has expertise working with clinical trials datasets and nationally representative large datasets, including the National Survey on Drug Use and Health and Monitoring the Future datasets, to examine risk and protective factors for behavioral health inequities. As a licensed social worker, she has a broad range of professional experiences, from micro-level work as a case manager to community-level advocacy organizer and macro-level work promoting national health policies and collaborating on federally funded research projects.
