PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Male smoking prevalence in Viet Nam is one of the highest in the world (45%), and rates of tobacco use are even higher among people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) (59%). This project will conduct a randomized controlled trial that compares the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of three multi-component interventions that are embedded in HIV outpatient clinics. This study is significant for its potential to guide large-scale adoption of promising, cost effective strategies for implementing and disseminating tobacco use treatment in HIV care settings in Viet Nam and will serve as a model for similar action in other lower middle income countries.
