Funded by: New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute
Project dates: April 2015 - August 2016
Principal Investigator: Halkitis PN
Principal Investigator: Kapadia, Farzana
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This mixed-methods study sought to more fully explicate the dynamics associated with accessing care among young men who have sex with men (YMSM).

The study:

  1. Identified the extent to which YMSM have access to healthcare facilities that serve the LGBT population;
  2. Disentangled the roles that sexual orientation and sexual behavior may play in preventing the access of consistent and appropriate care for YMSM, and
  3. Delineated the patterns by which YMSM transition from healthcare from adolescence to young adulthood and pre and post coming out.
