Neighborhood Social Vulnerability and Access to Expedited Partner Therapy Prescriptions: A Secret Shopper Audit Survey
Funded by: Emergency Medicine Foundation
Project dates: July 2023 - July 2024
Principal Investigator: Solnick, Rachel
Co-Investigator: Cowan, Ethan
PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project addresses the public health threat of the sexually transmitted infections epidemic by accessing the availability of Expedited Partner Therapy (EPT). The study aims to determine if there are disparities in pharmacy-level access based on neighborhood resources. Using a secret shopper approach, the study will audit New York City pharmacies to evaluate their willingness to dispense electronic EPT prescriptions. The research will also assess the relationship between neighborhood-level Social Vulnerability Index scores and accessibility to EPT prescriptions, hypothesizing that areas with higher vulnerability may experience greater barriers to access.
