PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Smoking-related illnesses are leading causes of non HIV/AIDS-related deaths among people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). To date, no intervention has adequately addressed smoking cessation among PLWHA, especially in South Africa. In collaboration with South African partners, an evidence-based interactive telehealth harm reduction intervention will be adapted to promote cigarette smoking abstinence among PLWHA and a pilot randomized controlled trial will be conducted to examine feasibility, acceptability and potential efficacy of the intervention.
