Structural racism and health inequities: Moving from evidence to action
summary
“Collectively, the articles in this supplement highlight many of the mechanisms through which structural racism manifests and acts to produce health inequities. But these are by no means all of the mechanisms. These articles show that to reduce—let alone end—the health inequities that we see today, we must acknowledge that structural racism is a fundamental driver of health inequities and call for law, policy, and practice changes to prevent, reduce, and eventually eradicate it. Most importantly, these articles provide concrete examples of how these changes could reduce health inequities and improve population health in the United States, especially for racialized and minoritized groups” (p. S8).
